    Coming this holiday season, the 2020 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be displayed on The Plaza between West 49th and 50th streets and Fifth and Sixth avenues.   • Habitat for Humanity (A Gift that Keeps On Giving)

    Continuing a longstanding holiday tradition, the 2020 Christmas Tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity. Following the holiday season, the trees will be milled, treated and made into lumber that is used for home building. Each year, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree continues to be a symbol of hope, and inspired the children’s book, The Carpenter’s Gift,千亿体育appwritten by David Rubel and illustrated by Jim LaMarche in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity.

  • Tree Lighting History

    For more than eight decades, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has stood as a holiday beacon for New Yorkers and visitors alike. Since the tradition’s first year, the Tree has acted as a reflection of what was happening in the world around it. In fact, in 1931 construction workers erected the first Tree at the Rockefeller Plaza construction site, and it was there that they would collect their paychecks during the height of the Great Depression. While the lights, decorations, and stars have changed through the years, visiting the Tree remains a quintessential New York experience.
